I love having a place in Sun Valley! Friends and relatives visit! This weekend we have Tony’s Canadian Cousin Wendy and her daughter, Sarah here. Wendy recently lost her wonderful husband, Sam, to brain cancer. And Sarah lost her fabulous dad. They are terrific house guests, cooking us a wonderful dinner last evening, being so helpful and mostly just feeling like family. They are both terrific skiers, so we all enjoyed yesterday together and today, i will skate ski while they tear up the mountain.
And Sarah LOVES Tuqui. They met when Tuqui was a baby and Sarah and Jim (now her husband) were living in San Francisco.
We saw Iron Lady last evening…Great, great acting by Meryl Streep, but not sure how much I actually liked the slant of the story.
And how happy am I about Komen’s plight. Meaning that Planned Parenthood is definitely benefitting. And yet, I do wonder what the real motives of Komen are? Who pressured them and why do they care? I think we want to know more. Love the internet and its power!
It is so incredible…We can skate ski on a minute from our house on the bike path!
And we can take Tuqui..who loves to meet like-minded dogs…
Just so beautiful…winter or summer
And then sometimes being “really smart” and getting the perfect parking place, doesn’t work as well as one would wish. 🙂
was the perfect Sun Valley Day! Bright sunshine, deep blue sky, snow hanging on all the branches and perfect under foot (or ski as the case may be.) it was cold but not windy so we never got cold…and we were dressed for the coldest of days which might have helped.
And each year we take a photo on top of College. This is our 2012 photo – 6 years after coming here for the first time.
I am just check in to see how a post from my ipad works. Yep, I am a geek!!!
And Tony took a photo of me skate skiing. Okay, I know I have a bit more to learn. it was COLD! but spectacularly beautiful.
Movie of Connie Skate Skiing!
We drove through town and every day I see something I want to photograph. Such beautiful old buildings. And I want to love them as long as they are around. I guess one day it will be more modern buildings and some of the old places that we love so much will have to change. But for now, I will just love it.
We skate skied on the Harriman Trail for the very first time…I know, I know, but we have been practicing at the SV Golf Club and Galena. Tuqui was in heaven! It was bitterly cold at 8 degrees so taking photos was a challenge!
We warmed up at Galena Lodge with a warm bowl of soup. And as usual I talked to so many wonderful people. One woman was remaking felt slippers for her husband, another was reading, and another had just come in from 2 1/2 hours of tramping down the snow on the snowshoe trails at Galena. Then we ran into Daphne Muehle who was up for a day of snowshoeing. It just does not get better.
A cool photo of Cate’s condo in SV! It is a gorgeous building. Who knows…she may live there one day. I highly doubt it as it is a long way from New York, but I would never have guessed she would have moved to New York!
Tuqui thinks she is queen of the mountain at Willow Run…
I hope I learn to figure out how to blog so that it shows up on the iPad beautifully!!!
