I’m a geek. My dad was a geek way before the word was invented. He developed his own photos and made Christmas cards in 1953. He wired our house, built our hi fi, and built a computer from a Heath kit (sort of) in the late 70’s. He told me that if I was going to quit practicing law, I needed to learn the computer. That was 1981. I bought an Apple II and left it on the desk for 6 months for fear I would break it. I did not know one person in Denver who had a computer. I finally met a fellow geek (he really looked and WAS a geek) and we began to tinker. So this blog is all about learning how to do one more thing with the computer. I have tried so many programs, so many iterations, spent countless hours on the phone with Go Daddy and made Tony think he would never get his wife back. My Mom was a geek in her own way. She got all my-hand-me down computers of which there were many because I always wanted the newest that Apple had to offer. She did it all on the computer…email, ordering online, photos projects and even wrote a pictorial history of her family back several generations on Print Shop. She scanned articles, photos and letters from her grandfather, father, mother and brothers. When she fell at age 88, she was concerned that the personalized door mat she had ordered for me for Christmas had arrived. I never missed a MacWorld until Apple stopped sponsoring it.
So I love the computer and all that it can do, I love learning how to make things happen on the computer and I love photography and what i can do with photos on the computer. This is a way to share a bit of that and continue to stretch my brain….
